You will be instructed to have your first shower 24 hours after your surgery.
You may feel a bit light headed from the anesthesia and the pain medication, so we recommend that you have a loved one help you.
Before you get up, take off your sports bra and remove the gauze.
Your incisions are covered with steri-strips and are to remain on the skin.
Make sure your loved one helps you get in and out of the shower safely and is nearby in case you feel faint.
Wash the area with warm water and soap.
Steri-strips are waterproof, so you don’t need to worry about them coming off in the shower.
Steri-strips should remain intact on your incision for 2 weeks.
If your Steri-strips don’t fall off, we will instruct you to gently massage the incisions with an application of a topical antibiotic ointment.
Once you are done showering, pat the breasts dry with a towel.
Put your bra back on and use use new gauze to protect from irritation.
